Posada y Adieu to corazon creativo šŸ’”

Las Posadas is Spanish for lodging, or accomodation, which in this case refers to
the inn in the story of the nativity of Jesus. It uses the plural form as the celebration
lasts for a nine-day interval (called the novena) during the Christmas season.
The novena represents the nine-month pregnancy of Mary,
the mother of Jesus celebrated by Christians.

Jamaica Flowers

My day's errands included a stop at Huerto Cafe in Riberas del Pilar to
say hello to Rocio and her staff and see the latest harvest.

 Juan Pablo

I found Juan Pablo diligently at work in the garden.

Then I headed to the plaza in Ajijic where we were to meet the women of San Pedro Itzican,
who were to sell their newest earrings and jewelry.

We greeted new customers and friends.

Anita, Elena and Jessie at the ready.

The afternoon flew by.  The lady's work was well received and a few items sold.

Then it was time to head down to corazon creativo for their goodbye posada.

 Anita y Doris

Preparations included PiƱatas, gifts, food and fun.

In the midst of all the festivity, a call was heard "here come the children"!

We ran into the street to see the procession approaching...what a sight it was!

One of the local matriarchs gave a welcoming explanation of the ritual and her blessing.

At the finale we were all given Posada and were allowed in to feast and receive gifts.

It seemed the entire town was present.

With this final gesture of generosity and grace we say goodbye to corazon creativo.

The shop at # 14 Galeana was a beautiful dream, given to the town by Mary Ellen and Mony.

I'd like to personally thank them for their kind stewardship
of our local artists and artisans.

It seems dreams can come true.

Muchisimas Gracias.

Poco A Poco San Pedro Itzican - Jewelry Sale at corazon creativo **************Saturday December 16th, 2017****************

CabaƱuelas

Our Saturday morning awoke with late rains knows as CabaƱuelas.  We had planned on setting up a sales table in the Artists Corridor leading into Ajijic Plaza.  The women of San Pedro Itzican, Mezcala and La Cuesta were due to arrive to handle sales.  The rains delayed their arrival, so we set up a sales table at el corazon creativo.  As always Mary Ellen and Mony graciously welcomed our group.

And just as I was leaving the house a beautiful rainbow appeared to guide me towards my day.

San Pedro Itzican, La PeƱa and La Cuesta Visits on Dec. 12th, 2017

Butterflies Sleeping

As with most mornings I visit my new medicinal plant garden at the Lake Chapala Society...early.
This morning I was greeted by the unusual cold and these sleeping beauties.

Our trip to the San Pedro Itzican area east of Mezcala proved to be an unforgettable afternoon.

La PeƱa

Music Workshop

Our first stop was La PeƱa, where the towns people awaited Yanin, Gil and Churro for their weekly
music workshop.  This charismatic trio of musicians has been visited La PeƱa weekly to conduct sound and movement workshops as a form of healing.  Today I was able to participate, and I'm so glad I did!

Knitting Workshop

The townsfolk also eagerly awaited the arrival of Maestra Kari Higgins and her volunteer teachers
to learn the fine art of needle knitting.

La Cuesta

Juan Diego & Laura's Goat Farm

The last stop on our afternoon tour was Juan Diego and Laura's goat farm.

The beautifully tended to organic farm was a treat to visit.
